A while back, Stacy Fox (a local poet) and I went out for a quick photo shoot. She’d had a busy few weeks- having just been selected to compete at the National Poetry Slam for the Lincoln slam team, and getting a job teaching high school in urban Chicago. We managed to squeeze a little bit of time in to get some cool portraits for her.
It has been a long, long winter.
March in Nebraska is a horrible tease- it starts to warm up, and just when you think you’re going to have a beautiful weekend, it gets cold and rainy and snowy again.
I am longing for warm weather, and thinking often about my trip to Florida last year. It was the first time I’d ever seen the ocean. It was brilliant.
Last year was also the first time I went to North Dakota. I don’t know which I liked more- the emptiness of western North Dakota, or the immensity of the Atlantic Ocean. It’s a tough call.
I am more than done with winter for the year. This summer several friends and I will be heading up to the north woods of Minnesota for a week of fishing, photography, and all-around awesomeness.
