Film Photography

I’ve been given three older film cameras in the past month: a Canon AE-1, a Canon FTb, and an Olympus OM-2s. I haven’t shot film at all in the past ten years or so, and we had some expired TRI-X 400 film and a few rolls of expired Fuji Superia 800 sitting around at work, so I loaded the cameras with that expired film to see if the cameras still worked (and if I remembered how to use a proper light meter). The results were surprisingly good! All the shots mostly came out, though they were very grainy. I expected the graininess, given the film’s age. I’m definitely going to get some more film and keep shooting it. Digital provides a clinical, tack-sharp image, but film has a look about it that digital just doesn’t provide.
